There are quite a bit of products that claim to improve vertical leap, but I will only write about things I promote or recommend. So let’s get started:
1.) Medicine Ball: I love the medicine ball because of its durability and the fact that it can be used as a standalone workout. You could not have access to a gym, but just have a medicine ball and an open field and you can get in a good workout. Exercises such as backward throws and forward jump throws are some of the best exercises for developing explosive power to help your vertical leap. I recommend any size between 5-10lbs. You want to keep a balance of the ball being light so you can still be explosive with the ball but not so light you’re lifting .5lb pink dumbbells.
2.) Foam Roller: This is an absolute must if you plan to jump for a long duration of time with high frequency. Foam rolling or self-myofascial release is a self-massage to release muscle tightness and trigger points. Foam rolling helps smooth out microtears and swelling in muscle fingers. By doing this you are helping to increase blood flow within the muscle which will promote a quicker recovery.
Self-Myofascial Release can be performed with
3.) Jump Manual: This is the most popular vertical program out on the market. He gives out good, sound information about vertical leap. We have to give him credit and a thumbs up for the exciting and engaging content he has created.
4.) Vertical Jump Bible: This is the Holy Grail. This program got the vertical leap development field started. I don’t want to badmouth the competition but this was one of the first, if not the first, program that actually relied on science to actually improve vertical leap and not cheap gimmicks that looked cool.
Also what is great about this program is that Kelly Baggett does a great job of making complex concepts seem simple and understandable. Additionally, he was one of the first to talk about knowing your jumping weakness and how to work on it, which was a tremendous help to me and many other athletes out there that tried to improve their vertical using his methods.
5.) Jump Science: Another Youtube vertical leap channel I enjoy watching is Jump Science. Not only does he have a vertical leap advice but a jump program he sells as well. Jump Science
6.) Fish Oil: If your joints are aching then this supplement for you, as fish oil will help decrease knee pain and help other joints recover. Not considering the other numerous health benefits of fish oil, fish oil is a great choice for a supplement period as many don’t get the right balance of omega-3 to omega-6 in a natural diet.
7.) Nike+ Sensor with Nike+ Shoes like Hypderdunks
Nike has deviced a process albeit an expensive one to help determine how high you are jumping. This process involves the sensor in your shoe determing your height from hangtime. The sensor is reasonably price but you need a Iphone to read the results, and Nike claims they only work accurately with big priced Nike+ shoes like the Hyperdunks or Lebron X. To those that are interested but concerned about the price, if you can find a creative, DIY way to use the Nike+ sensor in other type of shoes, then it may be worth a look.
sensor: Nike+ Stand Alone Sensor Kit
Very accurate way to measure vertical but really expensive so unless you run a gym or workout facility there is no real need to buy one of these devices.
9.) Vertical Jump Mat
Another expensive but accurate way to measure your standing vertical, however it may be too hard for an accurate running vertical.

10.) JumpStretch Band
This if for the advanced strength athlete who needs a good toy to play with in their workout. Most resistance bands offer little resistance and are very short. These you can add this to your squats to ramp up the exercise a bit as these will force you to use 100% intensity or the weight will crush you to the safety rack.
Also remember to use less weight than you normally would while using these. Furthermore, another point about these is that Joe DeFranco, an excellent trainer, recommends using these with Dumbbell Swings as a surefire way to increase your vertical leap.
11.) SeriousStrength Band
Formerly known as the Iron Woody brand these are just as topnotch as the JumpStretch Band. These may be cheaper than JumpStretch according to what your needs and how much accommodating resistance you want to add to your workout.
